Embedded/Network Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded/Network Software Engineer to evolve our existing TIP OpenWiFi (uCentral) platform from a prototype to a production‑grade service. You will work with real hardware – access points, switches and site gateways – in a lab environment, ensuring the solution is robust, secure and ready for customer deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Implement device‑side mutual TLS enrollment, certificate renewal and trust recovery mechanisms.
• Bring up and maintain OpenWrt support for non‑reference access points, switch platforms and x86 site gateways, including board support and wireless driver triage.
• Diagnose and fix WebSocket session issues between devices and gateways, ensuring reliable reconnection, back‑off and configuration synchronization.
• Create reproducible, signed firmware images in CI, supporting controller‑driven firmware campaigns and rollback paths.
• Harden network features such as VLAN tagging, 802.1X, RADIUS, WPA3, captive‑portal redirects and WAN failover on site gateways.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in C and C++ development for resource‑constrained embedded Linux systems.
• Hands‑on experience with OpenWrt build system, Buildroot, UCI and ubus frameworks.
• Practical knowledge of X.509 PKI, mutual TLS and device identity provisioning.
• Ability to debug wireless drivers and hardware/software boundaries using serial consoles, JTAG and kernel logs on Qualcomm or Broadcom silicon.
