About the role

The Senior Specialist in Health and Climate Change will provide technical and strategic leadership to strengthen Save the Children’s presence on the health‑climate agenda in Guatemala. Reporting to the PQI‑L Director, the role will advise projects, ensure program quality, and lead analysis of public health issues linked to climate impacts, with a focus on children and vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Offer expert technical guidance on public health, global health, epidemiology, maternal‑child health and climate change.
• Represent Save the Children in national and sub‑national coordination forums, building relationships with the Ministry of Public Health, international agencies, academia and civil society.
• Identify funding opportunities and develop strategic partnerships to expand the organization’s health‑climate portfolio.
• Lead the design of proposals that integrate epidemiological data, health‑system strengthening, vector‑borne disease control and climate adaptation.
• Generate and disseminate evidence on climate impacts on health to inform decision‑making and advocacy.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, environmental health or a related field.
• Minimum 7‑10 years of professional experience in health programming, climate change adaptation, or related sectors.
• Proven experience working with government ministries, donors and multi‑stakeholder platforms.
• Fluent in Spanish; English proficiency preferred.
