Media Monitoring Analyst (Spanish/English) – Guatemala

About the role

We are building a small team to deliver a daily media monitoring service for an international government client based in Guatemala City. The team provides early‑morning press summaries, top‑news highlights, and social‑media round‑ups, and sends real‑time alerts via WhatsApp throughout the day. You will read Guatemalan and international media, watch broadcast and social channels, and turn the most relevant information into concise English summaries.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor Guatemalan print, broadcast, online and social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp) each morning.
• Write three‑line English summaries covering who, what, when, where and why, with source links.
• Select and report the day’s top social‑media posts with reach and engagement figures.
• Compile a daily highlights package including front pages, top stories, political cartoons and topic summaries.
• Send WhatsApp alerts on client mentions and priority topics such as bilateral relations, governance, migration, security, trade and international news.
• Track foreign state media and embassy accounts and report on their output.
• Produce transcriptions of video and audio content, identifying speakers within two hours.
• Prepare coverage reports covering tone, coverage type and outlet counts.
• Proofread all deliverables before distribution.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native Spanish proficiency and strong written English.
• At least two years of experience in journalism, communications, media monitoring, public affairs or a related field.
• Working knowledge of Guatemalan media landscape, politics and public life.

Required skills

• Experience with social‑media analytics tools such as Meltwater, Brandwatch, Talkwalker or CrowdTangle.
