Senior Accountant – US & Canadian Clients

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing professional services firm, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of U.S. and Canadian clients. The position is fully remote and operates on a long‑term contractor basis, offering the chance to work with multiple startups and small businesses across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple client accounts, including general ledger management.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, and reconcile bank statements.
• Assist with payroll processing and preparation of financial reports and statements.
• Review financial information and key performance indicators to identify trends or issues.
• Oversee and review the work of bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Represent the firm in client meetings, gradually taking on client‑facing duties.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations and support audits and tax preparations.
• Work with AI‑enabled and automated accounting workflows, reviewing outputs and adapting to new technologies.
• Perform ad‑hoc accounting tasks as required.

Required profile

• Degree or formal post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of hands‑on accounting experience covering the full accounting cycle.
• Experience working with U.S. and/or Canadian companies or clients.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
