Senior Backend Cloud Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Cloud Engineer to evolve an existing multi‑tenant Wi‑Fi platform from prototype to production. You will work on both the upstream TIP uCentral services (C++) and our in‑house Python layer, focusing on the area that matches your expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Extend and maintain the in‑house multi‑tenant layer (tenancy model, device catalogue, role‑based access control, audit trail).
• Develop and secure the versioned REST API consumed by the operator console and external automation.
• Implement the configuration pipeline that translates operator intent into device configuration and verifies applied state.
• Handle persistent WebSocket sessions for thousands of concurrent devices, design Kafka topics/partitions and manage consumer lag.
• Own telemetry data retention, down‑sampling, aggregation and PostgreSQL schema design to support high‑volume streams.
• Ensure strict tenant data isolation and provide audit evidence for security reviews.
• Keep changes rebaseable onto upstream TIP releases and document upstream delta.

Required profile

• Strong production experience in at least one of C++, Go or Python within distributed systems.
• Hands‑on experience with Kafka, PostgreSQL and high‑throughput data pipelines.
• Familiarity with WebSocket handling, REST API design and versioning.
• Understanding of multi‑tenant architectures, role‑based access control (Keycloak/OIDC) and audit trails.
• Ability to work on both upstream (southbound) and in‑house (northbound) components and review cross‑boundary bugs.
