Senior Python Data Engineer

About the role

3Pillar Global is seeking a Senior Python Data Engineer to design and operationalize data solutions for scientific laboratory instruments. You will build robust data models, pipelines, and visualisation tools that enable our clients in AI‑driven enterprises to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine strategies for acquiring research data from scientific laboratory instruments.
• Engineer custom file parsers for diverse output formats such as .xlsx.pdf.txt.raw.fid, and proprietary binaries.
• Architect and implement scalable data models, pipelines, unit and integration tests, and modular utility libraries.
• Perform comparative analysis of datasets generated by similar instruments to design shared, extensible data model components.
• Create visualisations, reports, and interactive dashboards using Streamlit, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, and related tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building solutions as a Data Engineer or in a related field.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Python and SQL focused on data processing.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive project delivery.
• Ability to quickly understand highly technical products and collaborate with product management and engineering teams.
• Passion for data problems and interest in applying AI/LLM techniques.
• Degree in biology, chemistry, or equivalent experience in pharmaceutical/biotech scientific data engineering (optional but preferred).
• Exposure to DevOps practices in cloud environments and some React experience (nice to have).
