Apparel Designer – Men’s Dress Shirts

About the role

Under the direction of the VP of Design and Merchandising, the Designer will create high-quality, margin-rich men’s dress shirts, driving material innovation and meticulous attention to detail. The role involves collaborating with overseas vendors, conducting market research, and ensuring the product line aligns with RAA’s broader tailored apparel portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop flat sketches and CAD files, build BOMs, and hand off detailed product packages to production.
• Work with overseas vendors to develop fabrics, trims, and evaluate lab dips and strike-offs.
• Conduct seasonal market research for men’s dress shirts and translate trends into design concepts.
• Attend weekly fittings, provide feedback on samples, and create compelling presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with tech design, marketing, and production teams to ensure fit, construction, and storytelling across packaging and sales tools.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of design experience focused on men’s dress shirts or similar apparel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Technical Design, Product Development, or equivalent experience.
• Strong expertise in pattern making, garment fit, grading (including Big & Tall), and construction techniques.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Experience with 2D pattern-making systems, preferably Gerber AccuMark.
• Knowledge of PLM or comparable product development systems.
• Familiarity with CLO3D or AccuMark 3D for virtual prototyping.
