About the role

The Farm Operative is responsible for day‑to‑day care of pigs on a livestock farm. You will ensure proper feeding, monitor animal health, and maintain biosecurity standards to optimise production and minimise mortality.

Key responsibilities

• Execute both automated and manual pig feeding procedures, providing feed and water while preventing waste.
• Inspect and maintain equipment to guarantee optimal environmental conditions.
• Monitor animal health and mortality, administering medication or removing affected animals as required.
• Observe pig groups to identify low‑performing individuals and take corrective actions.
• Apply biosecurity protocols in the work area to protect animal health.
• Handle the reception, loading and transfer of animals according to standard procedures.

Required profile

• Secondary education (high school) completed.
• 0–2 years of experience in a similar farm or livestock role.
• Basic knowledge of animal care and handling.

Required skills

• Operation of automated feeding systems.
• Animal health monitoring.
• Equipment maintenance for environmental control.
• Implementation of biosecurity procedures.
