Software Architect – AWS & Node.js (Remote – LATAM)

About the role

Bluelight is seeking an experienced Software Architect to design and deliver high‑performance, low‑latency services on AWS for its growing client base across the United States and Latin America. This remote position offers the chance to shape complex, multi‑tenant systems while collaborating with a fast‑moving, diverse engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement low‑latency service architectures on AWS, including queues, caches, and search projections.
• Define explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and ensure synchronous durable commits for hot paths.
• Architect audit and evidence systems such as append‑only event logs and deterministic replay mechanisms.
• Create fail‑open, fail‑closed, and degraded‑state semantics and define outage postures.
• Develop secure multi‑tenant solutions, evaluating RLS, schema‑per‑tenant, and database‑per‑tenant trade‑offs.
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs).
• Lead technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years in an architecture‑focused role.
• Proven ability to design and ship large, complex systems end‑to‑end.
• Experience presenting and defending architecture decisions to clients and security reviewers.
