Staff Accountant

About the role

Podium is seeking a Staff Accountant for its Guatemala City office to ensure statutory compliance and financial integrity while collaborating with the US‑based accounting team. This position offers exposure to multinational accounting practices within a fast‑growing AI technology company.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with Guatemalan tax regulations, including IVA, ISR, and SAT filings.
• Support month‑end close, financial reporting, and preparation of statutory reports.
• Process payroll, statutory deductions, and related compliance activities (IGSS, IRTRA, INTECAP).
• Partner with the US accounting team on cross‑border accounting issues and US GAAP exposure.
• Utilize accounting systems to record transactions accurately and reconcile accounts.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role.
• Direct experience with Guatemalan tax regulations and SAT filings.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication in both Spanish and English.
• Proactive problem‑solving mindset and ability to work with remote, cross‑cultural teams.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with SAT digital platforms (FEL, DECLARAGUATE, BANGUAT).
• Knowledge of IVA, ISR, and SAT compliance requirements.
• Understanding of payroll regulations (IGSS, IRTRA, INTECAP).
