About the role

The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate registration, control, and monitoring of the company’s fixed assets. This role maintains up‑to‑date accounting and physical records for each asset, applying internal policies, Guatemalan accounting standards, and tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Record asset acquisitions in the accounting system and maintain the auxiliary ledger with detailed information.
• Assign and manage identification codes or plates for assets.
• Review supporting documentation such as invoices, purchase orders, and receipts.
• Verify correct accounting classification between assets, expenses, repairs, improvements, and work‑in‑progress.
• Calculate and review monthly depreciation for accounting and tax purposes.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations between the asset auxiliary and general ledger accounts.
• Investigate and document any differences identified during reconciliations.
• Manage documentation for asset disposals, including sales, destruction, loss, theft, obsolescence, or retirement.
• Compare physical inventories with accounting records and report missing, damaged, or incorrectly assigned assets.
• Support internal, external, and tax audits.
• Control fully depreciated assets that remain in operation and verify VAT treatment on asset purchases.
• Produce monthly reports on asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in fixed‑asset accounting.
• Student of Public Accounting and Auditing (CPA), at least in the 8th semester.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Organized with the capacity to follow processes.
• Proactive, effective communicator, team‑oriented, and results‑focused.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP.
• Knowledge of fixed‑asset control, depreciation, and inventory management.
• Familiarity with Guatemalan accounting standards and current tax legislation.
