Director, Central America (Guatemala)

About the role

The Central America Director will lead Mercy Corps’ operations in Guatemala and spearhead the launch of new programmes in Honduras and Mexico. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines strategic direction, programme oversight and donor compliance across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day programme implementation and operations in Guatemala.
• Lead the establishment of new Mercy Corps programmes in Honduras and Mexico.
• Supervise the Guatemala country‑team leadership and ensure effective coordination.
• Ensure compliance with local laws, Mercy Corps policies and donor regulations.
• Maintain programme quality according to PM@MC standards, delivering on time, on budget and within scope.
• Contribute to the development of proposals for Guatemala‑focused and multi‑country, multi‑sector initiatives.
• Guarantee accountability to programme participants and donors.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience managing operations or programmes in fluid, humanitarian environments.
• Proven ability to set strategic direction across several contexts simultaneously.
• Strong supervisory experience with country‑team leadership.
• Demonstrated knowledge of donor compliance and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in Central American development or humanitarian sectors.
