About the role
Hello Sugar Remote is seeking an Engineering Manager to scale its core platform from 295 to over 700 salon locations, leading a small frontend team and advancing AI‑assisted engineering practices.
Key responsibilities
- Own backend architecture using Python, Django, FastAPI, Celery and PostgreSQL.
- Lead critical integrations with Boulevard, Stripe, Shopify and Twilio.
- Manage and mentor a 3‑person frontend team working with React, Next.js and TypeScript.
- Drive scalability, technical strategy, CI/CD pipelines and engineering standards.
- Establish best practices for AI‑assisted development and help shape the technical roadmap.
Required profile
- 8+ years of production software engineering experience.
- Strong backend and Python expertise with advanced PostgreSQL performance optimization.
- Hands‑on experience with third‑party API integrations.
- Proven people leadership and communication skills.
- Fluent English.
