Fixed Access Engineer

About the role

Tigo is looking for a Fixed Access Engineer to define, document and maintain technological standards, regulations and guidelines for access platforms such as R-PHY, CMTS, GPON and XGS-PON. The role also covers the design and implementation of provisioning schemes, logical integration and deployment of new access platforms and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Define, document and maintain standards, regulations and guidelines for access platforms (R-PHY, CMTS, GPON, XGS-PON).
• Design and implement provisioning schemes, logical integration and deployment of new access platforms and technologies.
• Lead equipment certification processes, including evaluation, testing, approval and rollout of new firmware versions, ensuring compatibility, stability, security and network compliance.

Required profile

• Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in fixed access network design, planning, operation or engineering.
• Availability to travel according to the needs of the position.
• Experience with CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment).

Required skills

• Firmware management, administration and troubleshooting, version updates and validation.
• Configuration and support of access equipment (ONT, ONU, routers, gateways, WiFi, etc.).
• Linux and Windows, server administration; NMS and OSS/BSS platforms (Huawei NMS, Nokia AMS, Huawei NCE, Intraway, ACS Axiros, Symphonica).
• HFC, DAA/R-PHY, GPON and XGS-PON architectures; switching and routing protocols; network security, firewalls; FTTH architecture.
