Health Information Systems Consultant – Guatemala

About the role

PATH is seeking a Health Information Systems Consultant to support the STRIDES project in Guatemala. The consultant will lead the integration and strengthening of surveillance data across human and animal health sectors, ensuring interoperability with national digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate indicator, event, and community‑based surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, and laboratory data streams into platforms such as SINAVE, EPIWEB, Fichas SIGSA‑MSPAS, and ViCo.
• Design and implement centralized data pipelines and real‑time dashboards for analysis and decision‑making.
• Assess surveillance architecture, data flows, and system interoperability across sectors.
• Develop secure data‑sharing protocols and governance frameworks for multisectoral collaboration.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to align HIS systems with national priorities and ensure sustainability.
• Train national and sub‑national health officers on data entry, visualization, and analysis.
• Facilitate data‑sharing forums, technical workshops, and provide technical support to project staff.
• Review project and donor reports and contribute to publications and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in information systems, health informatics, computer science, epidemiology, public health, veterinary medicine, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience implementing health information systems and strengthening surveillance in LMICs, preferably Guatemala.
• Proven experience with Guatemala’s infectious disease surveillance platforms (e.g., SINAVE, EPIWEB).
