Medical Records Specialist – Remote

About the role

TopDog Law is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to join its fully remote team. You will be responsible for requesting, organizing, and delivering accurate medical records and bills while ensuring strict HIPAA compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Process, retrieve, review, and load electronic and physical medical records and billing information.
• Receive and fulfill record requests from patients, attorneys, insurers, and authorized third parties.
• Verify patient information, obtain authorizations, and ensure records are complete and HIPAA‑compliant.
• Monitor outstanding requests, follow up with healthcare providers, and resolve missing documentation.
• Upload, index, and organize records in the case management system.
• Maintain detailed tracking of requests, receipts, and processing timelines.
• Collaborate with legal, case management, and operations teams to support active cases.
• Assist with audits and quality‑assurance initiatives.
