Network Security Engineer

About the role

The Network Security Engineer will manage and protect Cognizant's network environments by operating security platforms such as Web Proxy, WAF, IDS/IPS, and Email Security solutions. The role involves on‑call support, incident response, and collaboration with multiple IT and business teams to ensure robust security controls.

Key responsibilities

• Administer security platforms across multiple environments, including Web Proxy, WAF, IDS/IPS, and Email Security.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation, perform root‑cause analysis, and block Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) on managed tools.
• Execute change requests within defined SLAs and conduct policy reviews, health checks, and platform maintenance.
• Troubleshoot block events, email delivery failures, network and application connectivity issues, false positives, and performance problems.
• Monitor, tune, and mature core network security controls, delivering timely security and compliance metrics.
• Create and maintain documentation such as use cases, SOPs, knowledge‑base articles, and training material.
• Own service requests end‑to‑end across multiple ticketing systems and support internal/external audits.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of progressive IT experience with 4‑5 years focused on information security.
• Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, initiative, and ability to work independently.
• Proven ability to identify security risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Excellent technical aptitude, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
