About the role
The Resident Coordinator (RC) is the United Nations' highest‑ranking development representative in Guatemala. Reporting directly to the Secretary‑General, the RC leads the UN Country Team and ensures coordinated implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.
Key responsibilities
- Represent the United Nations at senior government levels and engage with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
- Lead the development, monitoring and reporting of the UN Cooperation Framework in close consultation with the Guatemalan Government.
- Coordinate system‑wide UN support to the Government, fostering preventive and strategic assistance.
- Ensure accountability and performance of all UN development entities operating in the country.
- Report annually to the host Government on the implementation of the UN Cooperation Framework.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in international development, preferably within the United Nations system.
- Proven ability to lead multi‑agency teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals and UN frameworks.
- Excellent diplomatic and communication skills, with fluency in English; Spanish is an asset.
