Senior Front-End Web Developer (Developer III)

About the role

Compassion is hiring a Front-End Web Developer (Developer III) to build full-stack applications used across several countries. The work is hands-on and high autonomy: owning features end-to-end, from requirements and architecture to implementation, testing and delivery. The position is remote, based in Guatemala, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti or El Salvador, and requires a resumé in English.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, test, deploy, document and maintain software across the full stack, including frontend, backend, database, server, networking and solution architecture.
• Gather business requirements and turn them into scalable technical solutions and specifications.
• Design, develop and modify application logic, write maintainable code, run tests, debug and troubleshoot, and follow software development standards.
• Support cloud-based and third-party applications, and develop technology strategies and improvements.
• Work with cross-functional teams on applications, data processes, integrations and data governance.
• Take end-to-end ownership of work, estimate effort accurately and communicate progress, risks and blockers.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly, and mentor and coach developers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with teams across the United States, Brazil and Latin America, and engage directly with users and business partners when needed.
• Contribute to software engineering standards and champion child protection by following Compassion's Child Protection policies and reporting concerns.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in full-stack web development.
• Proven ability to design and implement end-to-end software solutions, and experience mentoring or coaching developers.
• Strong collaboration skills with distributed teams, and professional proficiency in English and Spanish.

• HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• PHP/Laravel, APIs, databases and backend technologies.
• Understanding of servers, networking and application architecture.
• Experience with code reviews and AI-assisted development tools.
