Web Design Systems Designer – Remote

About the role

Blacksmith Agency builds websites and marketing programs for clients across the US. As a Web Design Systems Designer you own how client design systems are built. You take a brand and reference sites, then extract the pattern into a working system of tokens, variables, modes, and core components that a build pipeline can execute without questions. Precision is the job.

Key responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming that our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, while maintaining the same structural rigor.

Required profile

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design‑system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants – delivering actual architecture, not just tidy files.
• A portfolio that shows varied client work while maintaining consistent underlying rigor.
• Strong English and ability to overlap with US business hours.
