Laboratory Technician – Textile Microbiology

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to lead microbiological testing for textile and related products. The role ensures compliance with international standards, supports method development, and drives continuous improvement of the microbiology service portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of microbiological analyses, reviewing and approving results according to ISO/IEC 17025 and client specifications.
• Develop, verify, validate, and maintain test methods, including antimicrobial efficacy methods such as AATCC 100.
• Maintain the laboratory quality system, documentation, and accreditation activities.
• Train and mentor laboratory staff, assess competency, and ensure biosafety and GLP compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, support root‑cause investigations, and contribute to research and new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of practical microbiology laboratory experience (8 + years preferred).
• Proven experience with ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems and laboratory accreditation.
• Strong technical writing and reporting skills in English.

Required skills

• Microbial culture, isolation, identification and enumeration techniques.
• Method verification, validation and measurement assurance.
• Knowledge of standards: ISO, AATCC, ASTM, USP, EN.
• Antimicrobial efficacy testing (e.g., AATCC 100) and textile microbiology.
• Statistical analysis and interpretation of microbiological data.
