Applications Lead

About the role

APM Terminals is seeking an experienced Applications Lead to own a portfolio of business‑critical applications that support terminal operations. The role involves solving complex business challenges, collaborating across multiple functions, and driving technology‑enabled improvements in a fast‑paced operational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of critical operational and enterprise applications.
• Manage system integrations, APIs, EDI connections, and data flows across multiple platforms.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, Customer Service and other business teams to deliver technology solutions that create measurable business value.
• Lead application support, incident management, root‑cause analysis and service‑improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate third‑party vendors and technology partners to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
• Deliver IT application projects from planning through implementation while ensuring business alignment.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and improve business processes using technology.
• Maintain application performance, availability, security and documentation in line with IT governance standards.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in an Application Lead, Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Application Specialist or similar senior IT role.
• Strong experience managing enterprise applications throughout their lifecycle.
• Hands‑on experience with APIs, EDI, SQL and integrating multiple business systems.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
• Experience managing vendors and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Experience supporting business‑critical production environments.
• Background in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, transportation, manufacturing or port operations is highly desirable.
• Experience with Navis N4 or another Terminal Operating System (TOS) is an advantage.
• Fluent Spanish and working proficiency in English.
• Must be based in Guatemala or legally authorized to work in Guatemala.
