Compliance Officer (Lawyer) – Guatemala

About the role

BDO Guatemala is seeking a qualified lawyer to join its compliance team. The role focuses on ensuring that the firm adheres to regulatory requirements, particularly in the financial sector, and supports the development of robust compliance frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and related documentation.
• Conduct thorough analysis and investigations related to compliance risks.
• Utilize advanced Excel and compliance‑management software to monitor and report on compliance activities.

Required profile

• Law degree with notary qualification.
• Experience in corporate law and at least three years in compliance processes.
• Preferably background in regulated financial institutions or professional firms.
• Certifications or training in anti‑money laundering/terrorist financing (AML/FT).
• English proficiency at B2 level.
• Prior experience as a compliance officer or analyst is desirable.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with compliance management software.
