Country Officer & Banking Head – Guatemala

About the role

The Country Officer & Banking Head leads Citi’s presence in Guatemala, shaping strategy, managing risk, and driving growth for the corporate franchise. Reporting to the Central America & Caribbean Sub‑cluster, the role represents Citi to government, regulators, clients, media and the community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a client‑centric business strategy that meets short‑ and long‑term goals while complying with corporate standards and local regulations.
• Oversee governance, risk management and compliance functions, including escalation of material risks to appropriate committees.
• Maintain and deepen relationships with key corporate clients, regulators, government officials and media to strengthen Citi’s market position.
• Lead talent acquisition, development and employee engagement across the franchise, fostering a safe and inclusive work environment.
• Manage the country‑wide Banking organization, P&L, capital allocation and revenue targets, ensuring efficient use of capital and delivery of cross‑selling opportunities.
• Drive sustainability initiatives and digital transformation for corporate clients, focusing on digital tools and services.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of relevant experience, with at least 15 years in banking, covering business development, client relationship management and credit.
• Proven senior leadership experience managing a P&L and complex banking operations.
• Strong corporate finance and credit expertise; Senior Credit Officer (SCO) certification preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of corporate and structured finance products, including loans, capital markets, cash management, trade, FX and derivatives.
