Grants Accounting Specialist – Latin America

About the role

The Grants Accounting Specialist supports financial stewardship across Latin America, ensuring donor compliance, accurate records, and timely vendor payments while partnering with program teams, country offices, and finance leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate grant budgets, expenditures and financial reports for compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
• Provide financial guidance on grant management, cost allocation, expense coding and donor compliance.
• Monitor grant transactions, prepare and submit grant financial reports, and manage accounts payable processes.
• Perform reconciliations of grant‑related, vendor and balance‑sheet accounts; support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and prepare schedules for donor, statutory and internal audits.
• Promote compliance with financial policies and internal controls across the region and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent certification highly desirable.
• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in grant accounting, donor compliance and accounts payable.
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably Workday) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to travel throughout the Latin America region.
