About the role
The Internal Communications Specialist will strengthen employee engagement and organizational culture by creating compelling content, optimizing internal channels, and delivering engaging experiences that align staff with Children International’s mission and strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and optimize internal communication channels, including intranet governance, content standards, and user navigation.
- Create, curate, and publish employee‑focused content that connects staff to the organization’s impact and goals.
- Develop and maintain the internal communications content strategy and editorial calendar in partnership with cross‑functional teams.
- Own the personnel announcement process, coordinating with Talent Growth and relevant stakeholders.
- Support onboarding, employee recognition, and engagement communications in line with Talent Growth philosophy.
- Collaborate with External Communications to ensure consistency between internal and external messaging.
- Monitor channel performance and employee feedback, recommending improvements to reach and effectiveness.
- Produce communication assets across formats – intranet pages, emails, presentations, videos, newsletters, and more.
- Coordinate communication calendars, content workflows, stakeholder reviews, and logistics for events and leadership forums.
- Identify and share employee stories and organizational successes to foster pride and belonging.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing/Advertising or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, or related marketing communications.
- Bilingual written and verbal proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work independently within a global, geographically dispersed organization.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience using SharePoint and other intranet/employee engagement platforms.
- Graphic design software and basic video editing tools.
- Digital communication tools for newsletters and email campaigns.
- Familiarity with AI and digital tools to enhance content development and planning.
