Lead College Counselor Senior

About the role

The Lead College Counselor Senior will head the university counseling department, supporting secondary‑school students in planning their higher‑education pathways, building university lists, preparing national and international applications, standardized‑test preparation and scholarship searches. The role also involves establishing and nurturing relationships with universities and families.

Key responsibilities

• Guide students in selecting universities and planning admission processes.
• Manage applications to both national and international universities.
• Advise on essays, recommendation letters, standardized tests and visa procedures.
• Research and monitor scholarship and financial‑aid opportunities.
• Maintain relationships with universities, admissions offices and educational organisations.
• Coordinate university fairs, campus visits and workshops for students and families.
• Create and maintain the school profile, application platforms and admissions calendar.
• Develop departmental indicators and reports for senior management.
• Train teachers on university recommendation processes.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of proven experience in college counseling, university admissions, bilingual school guidance or international educational advising.
• Experience guiding at least one full cycle of university applications from selection to acceptance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Communication, International Relations, Business Administration or a related field.
• Professional English proficiency, preferably certified at C1 or C2 level.
• Availability to work onsite in San Cristóbal, Mixco.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for fairs and conferences.
