About the role
The Procurement Specialist (Hub) supports Catholic Relief Services in Guatemala by coordinating local procurement activities to acquire goods and services needed for high‑quality programs serving poor and vulnerable populations. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the role ensures procurement processes are efficient, transparent and compliant with CRS policies, donor regulations and local laws.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and continuously improve procurement systems and procedures for Guatemala, Mexico and Nicaragua, ensuring compliance with CRS principles, donor regulations and local legal requirements.
- Work with program teams to develop and maintain an up‑to‑date procurement plan covering quantities, quality, delivery schedules and pricing information for goods and services.
- Lead market research, price analysis and supplier selection processes to achieve best value for money, including drafting evaluation criteria, managing transparent tendering, and preparing contracts or purchase orders.
- Communicate with program and operations units to track delivery, verify that received goods match specifications, quantities and cost, and keep stakeholders informed of status.
- Maintain regular contact with suppliers, monitor contract performance, address issues, and report supplier performance and any inefficiencies to the Procurement Manager.
- Monitor contractual agreements, provide progress reports and support modifications to contracts or purchase orders as needed.
Required profile
- Proven experience in procurement or supply‑chain functions, preferably in an international development or humanitarian context.
- Strong understanding of procurement regulations, donor compliance and local legal frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with program, finance and operations teams.
- Fluent in Spanish and proficient in English.
