Remote Local Government Paralegal

About the role

The Starkey Law Group is seeking a remote, independent‑contractor paralegal to support its high‑volume Local Government practice serving the City of Fairburn. You will act as the operational anchor for a team handling legislation, contracts, and litigation oversight across multiple city departments.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and prepare ordinances, resolutions, amendments, memos, contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, PowerPoint presentations, and city agenda materials for attorney review.
• Manage 100–120 active matters, including advisory memos, departmental requests, special projects, contract reviews, and legislative work.
• Track, case‑manage, and advance litigation matters while maintaining organized caseload reports for three attorneys.
• Interpret cryptic forwarded emails, extract actionable information, and act proactively without prompts.
• Communicate with city department heads and external stakeholders, monitor daily email flow, and ensure nothing slips through.
• Schedule calls, meetings, hearings, city sessions, and project touchpoints; flag deadlines and keep attorneys ahead of workload.
• Coordinate deliverables across multiple attorneys and their support staff.

Required profile

• Experienced paralegal comfortable working in a fast‑paced U.S. legal environment.
• Ability to work during U.S. Eastern Time business hours while residing outside the United States.
• Strong judgment, high attention to detail, and a passion for handling high‑volume, deadline‑driven work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with city officials and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint for creating presentation materials.
