Payroll Tax Associate – PEO Industry

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Payroll Tax Associate to join our team. In this position you will ensure federal and state tax compliance for our clients, conduct tax research, process payroll tax payments and returns, and resolve tax notices within the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) environment.

Key responsibilities

• Research and interpret tax laws at local, federal and international levels to guarantee compliance.
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns using e‑file, batch agents, magnetic media and EFT.
• Process payroll tax payments, perform reconciliations and audit corporate tax payments for accuracy.
• Analyze tax notices, correct discrepancies promptly and update case management systems.
• Collaborate with internal departments on new business projects and provide high‑level client support on payroll tax questions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll tax regulations through continuous research and professional development.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year experience in payroll, tax or a closely related field.
• Prior experience in a PEO or similar industry is preferred.
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) required.
• Strong analytical abilities, high attention to detail and excellent time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
