Senior Investment Officer – Infrastructure & Energy (Central America)

About the role

The Senior Investment Officer will lead the origination, structuring and mobilization of private capital for infrastructure and energy projects across the Central America region. Reporting to the Infrastructure and Energy Division and working closely with the Regions Department, the role supports IDB Invest’s “Originate to Share” model to deliver high‑impact development finance.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop a pipeline of transport, water, sanitation and energy projects in Central America.
• Structure innovative financing solutions and coordinate with multilateral, bilateral and private investors.
• Manage relationships with national governments, country representatives and client institutions.
• Oversee delivery units to ensure project execution aligns with IDB Invest’s standards and timelines.
• Provide strategic input for the division’s portfolio management and risk assessment.

Required profile

• Minimum 8‑10 years of experience in infrastructure or energy investment, preferably in emerging markets.
• Proven track record in project finance, capital mobilization and public‑private partnerships.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory and economic environment in Central America.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
