Tax Manager

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing tax team. You will support the full scope of tax work, from income tax and year‑end filings to compliance projects, while taking ownership of the sales tax function.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review business and individual tax returns, managing deadlines across a multi‑client portfolio.
• Lead sales tax compliance, filings, nexus reviews and respond to client questions.
• Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams, owning work end‑to‑end without needing follow‑up.
• Help build tax processes and documentation as the team expands, staying current on federal, state and local changes.

Required profile

• Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or equivalent experience with a proven track record in U.S. income tax and year‑end work.
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and work independently.
• Interest in developing tax processes and staying up‑to‑date with tax law changes.

Required skills

• Experience with sales tax compliance (experience preferred but not required).
• Familiarity with tax software and sales tax platforms such as Avalara and TaxJar.
